MA Yasmin Ahmed

Yasmin Ahmed studied Political Science and Middle Eastern Studies at the Universities of Bern, Fribourg and Galway, as well as at the American University in Cairo. From 2022 to 2026, she worked as a teaching assistant and student tutor for Arabic at the University of Bern. She also completed a further training course in Teaching Arabic as a Foreign Language at the Netherlands-Flemish Institute in Cairo.

In her Master’s thesis, Yasmin Ahmed examined how foreign direct investment shapes urban gentrification processes and their social perception in Egypt, Jordan and Morocco. Alongside her research in comparative political economy and urban studies, she has a keen interest in foreign language teaching methodology and the sociolinguistics of the Arabic language.
